Statement by Andrea Kavanagh, Director, Pure Salmon Campaign

On the Resignation of Marine Harvest CEO Atle Aide

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Atle Eide, CEO of Marine Harvest, submitted his letter of resignation to the Marine Harvest ASA’s Board of Directors. He will resign as of September 1, 2007.

"Pure Salmon calls on Marine Harvest to name a new CEO who will commit to implementing long-term reforms that are necessary to make the company a leader in environmental standards. Marine Harvest has already announced it will remove early stage production from Chile’s lakes. Previously, Marine Harvest announced it would source feed without reducing wild ocean stocks.

"Good environmental stewardship makes good business sense. Even though its press release made no mention of environmental stewardship, we hope that this was an oversight and that new management will in fact place a strong emphasis on protecting the marine environment, including respecting the concern of lead investor John Fredriksen to protect wild salmon."
